Gaming on a Budget: Tecware Q3 Wireless Gaming Headphones Review

I'd like to thank Adtech Sales and Services for lending me the Tecware Q3 to review. The headset is available in their stores.

Pros
  • Multiple connectivity options
  • Built-in microphone with microphone mute when folded out
  • Can be used out of the box with laptops since the 3.5mm jack is combination mic/headphones
  • Lightweight and comfortable fit up to a certain earsize and head size, provides a good seal
Cons
  • Limited headband adjustment, might be too small for larger heads.
  • Unable to charge while using the headset.
  • Narrow soundstage and clarity issues
  • Sensitive microphone can pick up a lot of background noise, even its own output.

Packaging
  • There are no protective styrofoam inside the box, the headset is packaged inside a PE Foam bag.
  • All the cables were in a plastic bag that wasn’t sealed, as the tape strip to seal the bag was not uncovered.
  • The same as the Tecware Phantom+ that I just reviewed recently, the Q3 does NOT have a manual. You’ll have to grab it from their website.

Build Quality
  • The headset feels very light owing to the fact that most of the build is made of plastic.
  • Clamping force is pretty good and is comfortable.
  • Earcups are made of cloth and are pretty soft. With our climate here though it can get easily hot. You’re going to sweat through these so make sure you have ample cooling for your room.
  • The earcup holes are ~2cm deep, with ~6.5cm diameter from top to bottom and ~4cm diameter from side to side. It was able to fit my ears snug without my ears touching the inner walls.
  • I don’t have a huge head, but with the Q3, I needed to max out the headband. Larger heads might have an issue with the fit for this headset.
  • Headband foam is thin, but not thin enough to bother you during long gaming sessions.

General Usage Impressions
  • The USB C to A is strictly for charging only, which disappointed me since it would have been more advantageous to be able to use the headset while it is charging. Considering it only has a 300mAh battery, don’t expect to use this for the whole day.
  • Use the USB C to 3.5mm for wired mode. A combination headphone/microphone jack is required so the microphone works.
  • Even with its 300mAh battery the Q3 surprisingly lasted for some time, about 2 days without charging. It was used intermittently with and without the mic, as I was working and listening to music, and then using the mic with discord at night.

Sound Impressions
  • The output is bass-boosted, favoring the sound of footsteps and explosions in games. Some people might find this to be enough for music enjoyment.
  • Clarity takes a hit due to the bass-boosted nature of the headphones.
  • The soundstage is narrow and feels very close, almost claustrophobic. In Overwatch 2 the accuracy of the sound is a little off. While the general direction was correct, pinpoint direction of footsteps, dialogue, and explosions were hard to put down.
  • The microphone is very sensitive and can pick up sounds in the room. In my case it was even able to pick up sounds outside on the street as well.

Final Thoughts

The Tecware Q3 is a decent entry-level wireless headset for people on a budget without high expectations for sound quality. It is initially comfortable to wear thanks to its lightweight build and modest clamping force but the thin headband padding, cloth earcups, and headband adjustment may make a difference for longer gaming sessions, especially in warm environments. The headset’s emphasis on bass helps bring out some gaming sounds like footsteps and explosions, but sacrifices clarity and soundstage width, making it less suitable for competitive play where precise audio cues are crucial.

Overall, the Tecware Q3 is a budget-friendly option, but those willing to save a bit more may find better quality and versatility in other models.
