A Casual's Review of the Venture Electronics Standard DIC Vita Cable

Disclaimer Please note that I am not an audiophile, and this review does not delve into the technical aspects of the IEMs. My impressions are based on my personal preferences, and others may have different experiences with this product. I also have a very limited experience with audio products so please take this review with a grain of salt.

The Venture Electronics Standard DIC Vita Cable was sent to me by VE for reviewing, but as always, all opinions of them will always be my own and will remain independent.

Note: This review is also posted on Head-fi.

Pros

  • Feels very premium, from the plug to the connectors.
  • Build quality is very good throughout.
  • No tangles, and no memory so far!

Cons

  • L and R labels are small so it’s hard to read (nitpick)
  • Not the lightest cable (nitpick)
  • Barebones packaging

What’s in the box

  • The cable was shipped in an unmarked resealable bag with no branding.
  • IEM side connector options: 0.78 2-pin or MMCX.
  • Plug options: 3.5, 4.4 balanced, or USB-C with the Devastator chip.

Cable Specs

  • 1.2m in length, weighs 38.3 g
  • 14 x 9 x 0.05mm per Wire 6n OFC
  • FEP + PVC insulation

What’s DIC?

Dual Insulation Copper means each wire wears two jackets. Inner layer is FEP, outer layer is PVC. Two layers protect the copper from sweat and wear, keep the cable stable, and can help reduce cable noise. Think T-shirt plus raincoat for your wires.

Impressions
  • The Vita is heavier than average at 38.3 g, about the same weight as the NMD Cables I reviewed.
  • No earhooks. Depending on the IEM, it can feel like the cable tugs them out.
  • As a benefit of no earhooks, I can route the cable around my glasses and it doesn’t press behind my ears.
  • Connector fit is snug with no wiggle on the IEMs I tried.
  • Microphonics are low to imperceptible for me. (Note: microphonics us what you hear when you have your IEMs plugged in and with music on pause and you move the cable around)
  • After a week of desk use, I saw no sleeve fray and no connector looseness. A quick microfiber wipe removes lint.

Gear used
  • Letshuoer DT03 Dongle DAC
  • Letshuoer S08 IEMs
  • Moondrop May IEMs
  • Snowsky Echo Mini DAP
Final Thoughts

The Vita is a big jump in terms of quality of life. It’s an excellent cable, though at this price I wish it came with better packaging and a pouch or cable tie. At this price point you’re paying for build, flexibility, and quality of life. Treat it as a usability upgrade, not a tone mod.

If you want a simple way to make daily listening smoother and less fussy, with the right plug and a solid feel, the Vita earns its keep. But if your stock cable is already soft, quiet, and has the right plug, put the budget into tips or music instead.

Bonus Tech Tip
If your cable doesn’t have clear markings where the L or R is, you can use a marker or paint pen to dot the right connector so L and R are readable at a glance.
